2026-07-24 — spec drafted, implementation started

• Phase: requirements → design → tasks → implementation
• Did: Confirmed the two linked root causes (dead tmux session never respawned; poller state.update baselining failures as processed and marking the item "known"). Drafted the 3-phase spec. Scope: full solution (poller retry policy + dispatcher respawn), per-event budget, confirmed against the owner's issue comments.
• Next: implement T1–T10.
• Blockers: none. Human approval of the spec + code happens at the PR (tier-3, human-approves-pr).

  • runner.py: TmuxResult.session_missing; deliver sets it on the missing-session path.
  • webhook/dispatcher.py: _dispatch_one respawns on session_missing; _respawn_tmux (reuse harness/cwd/tmux-target, event as boot prompt, re-register preserving recent_deliveries, emit session.respawned, fail closed); delivery_status(delivery_id, refs) → done/inflight/unhandled.
  • poller/poller.py: PollState retry ledger (commentAttempts, spawn {attempts, gaveUp, deliveryId}, finalize prune); PollConfig.max_retries; _process_item rewrite with _try_spawn/_process_comment bounded retries, give-up (poll.spawn_failed/poll.comment_failed), new-comment re-arm; PollSummary.failures.
  • commands/poll.py: --max-retries flag + default plumbing.
  • eventlog.py: registered session.respawned, poll.spawn_failed, poll.comment_failed; attempt on poll.comment_forwarded.
  • Config: polling.maxRetries in cli-config.schema.json + cli-config.yaml.
  • Tests: unit (session_missing, delivery_status, PollState ledger, retry flow incl. inflight/give-up/re-arm, config floor) + integration (respawn-on-dead-session, no-respawn-on-live-session).
  • Capability docs: interactive-sessions.md (respawn) + webhook-triggers.md (poll retry policy), with history rows.
