Progress entries

2026-07-02 — Research: Cursor's plugin equivalent

  • Phase: requirements-definition → design
  • Did: Researched Cursor's extensibility surface. Findings: Cursor 2.4 (Jan 2026) adopted the Agent Skills open standard (SKILL.md, .cursor/skills/); Cursor 2.5 (Feb 2026) shipped plugins — .cursor-plugin/plugin.json, .cursor-plugin/marketplace.json, auto-discovered skills/, commands/, rules/, agents/, hooks/hooks.json; installable from marketplace, /add-plugin, a GitHub repo, or ~/.cursor/plugins/local/. Cursor hooks use a different event model (no SessionStart). Sources: cursor.com/docs (plugins, skills, hooks), the official cursor/plugins spec repo, Cursor 2.4/2.5 changelogs.
  • Checkpoint/tests: n/a (research)
  • Next: manifests + rule + docs

2026-07-02 — Implementation: dual-harness packaging

  • Phase: implementation
  • Did: Added .cursor-plugin/{plugin,marketplace}.json (explicit skills//commands//rules/ paths; hooks deliberately excluded); rules/the-loop.mdc always-applied reminder rule; harness-neutral ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} prose in five commands; README/skill/references/architecture/ roadmap updates; decision-015; CI now parse-validates the Cursor manifests.
  • Checkpoint/tests: make check — pass (ruff, pyright, schema validation, pytest, markdownlint via pre-commit parity).
  • Next: self-review, raise PR
  • Blockers: none

Final validation evidence

  • Both .cursor-plugin/*.json manifests parse and mirror the .claude-plugin/ pair (CI "Validate JSON artifacts parse" step extended to cover them).
  • skills/ and commands/ are shared verbatim — no per-harness content fork (R2.2).
  • rules/the-loop.mdc carries the SessionStart-equivalent reminder, guarded on .the-loop/config.yaml (R3).
  • make check green: same gates as CI.
